A couple days ago, Marvel released a mobile game tie-in to the upcoming movie "Guardians of the Galaxy", claiming that it doesn't have any in-app purchases or always-online DRM. I can tell you now that what they're saying is 100% true, but if you want to know if the game is worth your money, you should continue reading.
Story
I have to say that story in "The Universal Weapon" is quite simple: it revolves around Star Lord freeing the other guardians from prison. Cutscenes are comics, and they can be quite funny at times. I haven't progressed enough to say how good or bad it is, but so far, it's good enough as a whole, but amazing for a mobile game (I'm looking at you, "Modern Combat").
Gameplay
Let's face it: many people are going to buy this game for the awesome gameplay. To simply put it, the gameplay is easy to learn, but hard to master. In-game you unlock guardians, and in each level you pick up to four, customize them with weapons and powers, and start the fight. Fight's last about a couple minutes and you drag from one of the guardians towards an enemy in order to attack and just drag from the desired guardian for movement. While it's easy, gameplay is really challenging when you have more opponents and more guardians to control. The best part about the gameplay is that it's fun without in app purchases, meaning that you can fully enjoy the game without having to spend a penny outside of the original purchase.
Graphics
While "The Universal Weapon" doesn't look as good as other games on Android and iOS, like "Infinity Blade" and "Asphalt 8", it keeps itself simple and 2D, which means that it's not going to need the latest hardware to be able to run smoothly. I had problems on my Sony Xperia Z getting great graphics, but it did stutter only a little bit and the loading times were longer than what would be on a new smartphone.
The Verdict
If you're looking for a great mobile game with fluid gameplay, "Guardians of the Galaxy: The Universal Weapon" might be just what you want. A full review might come when I finish the game, along with a score.
