Without a proper introduction, let me count down from 10 to 1 my favorite South Park episodes.
All episodes listed here can be viewed in many places all over the world on their official site, SouthParkStudios.com
If you do not see your favorite episode here, make your own list for it to be featured in.
The videos are all clips legally embedded from the official site, and contain some parts from the beginning of episodes (they do not spoil anything, I assure you). 10. You Got F'd in the A (Season 8, Episode 4)
"No, stop Stan! You don't know what you're doing!" - Chef
"You Got F'd in the A" explores the idea of people living under rocks experiencing modern life for the bullshit that it actually can be. This episode in particular explores "serving", which is something I myself didn't know about until I saw the episode. It follows Stan accidentally pissing off a group of kids making "it on". Stan has to form a dance group, compete, and win, and if he won't, he'll be forever known as a wuss. Not only is the story funny, the ending twisted, the episode takes sarcasm to a whole new level. I didn't find the episode as funny as many others in the list, and that's why it's at the tenth place.
9. Weight Gain 4000 (Season 1, Episode 2)
"Follow your dreams. You can reach your goals, I'm living proof. Beefcake! Beefcake!!!" - Cartman
The episode "Weight Gain 4000" offers South Park's original way of making a story: many story lines which all have jokes naturally coming in when ready (the clip above is an excellent example). The story here revolves Cartman on his quest to be come a "beefcake", Stan and Wendy solving a mystery, and a grudge that Mr. Garrison has against a certain celebrity who's coming to town. The jokes in the episode hold up to the test of time, meaning that the jokes are funny now maybe as much as they were in 1997. Humor in the episode reaches from stupid to smart, and from sadistic to gross-out. This episode is a must-watch for any fans of the series.
8. Red Sleigh Down (Season 6, Episode 17)
Without a doubt, watch this episode the less you know about it. It'll make the viewing experience a lot more enjoyable and eye-opening. The story follows Cartman wanting to do something good before Christmas because he found out that he's on the naughty list. Cartman somehow got the "best" idea: bringing Christmas to Iraq. I won't go further so I won't spoil the episode, but I have to tell, there are some really sadistic and cynical parts in the episode. A must-watch: you'll laugh at loud, even when you know you shouldn't.
"No! Not Santa's balls!" - Santa
7. About Last Night... (Season 12, Episode 12)
This episode follows the outcomes of the 2008 presidential elections in the United States: in South Park and in the White House. In South Park, the Obama followers party outside while drunk when the McCain followers sit inside and some of them even cry. After a glimpse, the episode cuts to the White House, showing the reason of why Obama had to be elected. The main reason the episode is placed here is not only because it is one of Matt and Trey's most cynical episodes yet, but because it was still good after being mad IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS AFTER THE ELECTION. Yes, you heard me right, 24 hours. What surprised me is that the story is still in the quality of regular episodes, and sometimes even better.
"Celebrate good Obama, come on!" - Randy
6. Here Comes the Neighborhood (Season 5, Episode 12)
"Token, your family is so rich, they have their own swimming pool" - Butters
In the episode, "Here Comes the Neighborhood", the kids at school rip on Token for being part of a rich family. This angers him so much he invites other rich people to live in South Park. All these new families have something in common other than being financially successful: they are also all African-American. These new families seem to anger the common residents of South Park, thus leading to the episode. The gags in this episode are racist and cynical, like many episodes, but they are all funny. Because of the strange plot and twisted humor, I'm putting this at number six.
5. Woodland Critter Christmas (Season 8, Episode 14)
"Christmas time is once a year... And it happens once a year..." - Narrator
The reason I'm not putting a clip for this episode is because the plot can be spoiler really easily, so watch it with an empty mind. The episode has a ton of hilarious twists and turns, the most generic Christmas song ever, and many eye-opening moments. Just watch the episode and thank me later if you enjoyed it. The image shown is from the South Park Wikia, so credit to them.
4. Make Love, Not Warcraft (Season 10, Episode 8)
"How do you kill one that has no life?" - Blizzard Worker
This episode depicts what how people are willing to sacrifice their social life in order to be good in an online game. In the episode, all the boys become addicted to WoW, but suddenly comes across a player who has sacrificed his life in order to become the best and troll other characters. In order to beat the troll, all the boys have to give up on their lives to finish him off. The episode is funny, crude, and cynical, and it satirizes WoW in a loving way. Side note: all the CG parts in the episode are made using the same engine WoW uses.
3. Ginger Cow (Season 17, Episode 5)
"I was wrong, Kyle. - Cartman
Before you can go to the comments, read this... This episode tackles the idea of why the Middle East is still at war. I myself am not sure, and I live at the center of attention, Israel! Ginger Cow is one of those episodes that is somehow right when it should be wrong. The only tackle which made it at number 3 instead of 2 is that there are too many fart jokes in the episodes. Other than that, the story goes over-the-top and crazy, and tries to end peacefully.
2. Butt Out (Season 7, Episode 13)
"If you smoke, you can grow up to become a failure, or even dead! If you don't smoke, you'll be just like us!" - Butt Out
There is one big reason this episode is at number two: the message about smoking. This episode clearly addresses the problems about smoking, how people are telling others the problem and the reactions. Throughout, you'll be laughing at loud. A really great episode, and make sure to watch this even if you don't like South Park!
1. Scott Tenorman Must Die (season 5, episode
"No pony, he'll like that..." - Cartman
This episode proves that Cartman is the most evil, manipulative cartoon genius there ever was. Cartman shows how far he goes with revenge, to a point of madness. I won't spoil it for you, but all I have to say that this episode is worth 23 minutes to anyone who enjoys comedy.
