According to an article by 24/7 Wall Street, BlackBerry, who were once the kings of mobile devices, are one of the brands that will disappear before 2015, along with Zynga and Time Warner Cable.
I hope many people will be alienated by the fact that BlackBerry's market share in cell phones has dropped from 19% in 2008 to less than 1% in 2014. Why is this happening? Let me explain.
Early last year, BlackBerry unveiled OS 10, what could have been their savior. However, they lacked a device which appealed to modern cell phone users, since it offered a small screen and outdated specs. To top off everything, the OS had a smaller store than Windows Phone, and that's saying something.
When the iPhone was launched and Android was terrible, BlackBerry phones were appealing to businesses because of unmatched security, since then times have changed. Instead of going for a BlackBerry these businesses are going to turn towards devices like the iPhone and Blackphone, which are much more functional with great security.
Personally, I don't think BlackBerry would survive, even if it had enough money. Lot's of old cell phone OEM's are disappearing, like Motorola with it's multiple acquisitions and Nokia with the purchase of their main smartphone line by Microsoft. On the other hand, BlackBerry deserves this. Because their products haven't progressed to modern standards, many people are just skipping out on their phones. I remember when the Z10 was launched it was way too overpriced. For less you could buy a Samsung Galaxy S3, which was a better device as a whole.
