Well, like every year, Dreamworks had to release another movie. However, this latest movie, a movie adaptation about the lives of two characters from The Bullwinkle Show is tolerable. Let me explain.
First of all, the best part about viewing Mr. Peabody & Sherman is just looking at the animation. The sheer quality amazed me, since most Dreamworks CGI movies look like crap next to Pixar movies. This time, all the textures are smooth, and characters seem detailed. However, one big problem with the animation is that the animation itself seems to have an identity crisis. All the human characters look drastically different from one another. At first thought you might think to yourself "What's the harm?", but then think of the Pixar movies with human characters, 2D animated shows like The Simpsons and South Park, and then think of the importance of a certain style.
Since Mr. Peabody & Sherman has a lot of characters who are children, I expected some annoying voice actors. To my surprise, voice acting was really good throughout. Unfortunately, there were some characters that sounded way too over-the-top, like the voice behind Leonardo da Vinci.
The biggest gripe I had while viewing Mr. Peabody & Sherman is the lack of a story. Before watching, I read the plot on iTunes and it seemed fine. Unfortunately, the movie takes 50 minutes to progress to the biggest changed that was in the plot, and after that the movie went all over the place. Some scenes were extremely slow, which goes against the fact that this is supposed to be a fast-paced movie.
As this is a children's animated movie, you could find movies that are a lot worse, but Mr. Peabody & Sherman isn't half bad. There's a lot of good humor and great animation.
